HISTORY:
The Regional Pharmacy Institute (RPI) was established at Agartala during 1979 with the financial assistance of NEC (North Eastern Council) to cater Diploma course in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) throughout the North Eastern States with an intake of 60 (Sixty) capacity. Subsequently the Institute had upgraded into Bachelor in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) course in addition to D.Pharm course with the renaming of RPI as Regional Institute of Pharmaceutical Science & Technology (RIPSAT) during November, 1997 with an intake capacity of 30 (Thirty) capacity. The participating states are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. Recently The Pharmacy Council of India has approved the intake capacity of B.Pharm Course from 30 to 60 seats. B.Pharm (Practice) course is also introduced recently to upgrade the knowledge of working Pharmacist in different health sectors of Tripura. The Government of Tripura has Introduced 20 seats from academic session 2020-21 in B.Pharm course under endowment quota in which candidates of any state with eligibility conditions as per Pharmacy Council of India can apply for admission.
Diploma Course
- Arunachal Pradesh – 03, Manipur – 15, Mizoram – 15, Nagaland – 02 and Tripura – 25
Degree Course
- Arunachal Pradesh – 05, Assam – 05, Manipur – 05, Meghalaya – 04, Mizoram – 07, and Tripura: 17.
- 26 nos of seat has been alloted under indowment quota(All India Basic).
B.Pharm (Practice) Course
- 40 Nos of seats has been approved by Pharmacy council of India in B.Pharm (Practic) Course.
Both the Diploma and Degree in Pharmacy are approved by Pharmacy Council of India (P.C.I.), All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E) and affiliated to Tripura Board of Pharmacy Education (TBPE) and Tripura University respectively.
RIPSAT is located at Agartala, the capital city of Tripura, one of the north-eastern states of India. It is at Kunjaban near the Malancha Nivas", home of Manikya Dynasty at Agartala. It is completely run by the Government of Tripura. The site is adjacent to Agartala Government Medical College and about 8.0 kms away from the Agartala airport. The scenic beauty of the Campus on completion itself will be attractive beyond comparison with any other similar Institute. The site offers wide scope of development in terms of infrastructure and the dedicated services of the employees (teaching and non-teaching) have created an environment of real education.
